Laying Head Nose Positioning

The main target of this function is to ensure that the head end of the wire that is being deposited in a coil form is not obstructing the path of coil that is being laid on to the conveyor. This minimizes the scrap and also the bottlenecks in the coil handling area enabling the continuous mill to roll at a high productive rate. The front end positioning is achieved by accurately tracking the head-end and adjusting the laying head speed in advance of the rod exit to ensure that the desired position of the head coincides with the head-end exit, the angle position of the laying head pipe exit is varied to ensure a correct laying position to ensure trouble free operation.
